A Night at the Farm House

Monday afternoon we decided that we would all pack up and head to Pin Oak Farm in El Campo and I decided that I would like to go sit in the duck blind the next morning while Jon and Trent hunted, I had never been and wanted to see what this was all about! We debated taking Landon as this would be his first time as well and well, he is a little younger. We got to the farm around 4 pm Monday afternoon and decided to go sit in the bow stand with Jon while he hunted for deer, maybe we would see a lot of animals come close. We did see a few deer and the boys were so excited to watch the deer eat right in front of us, without even knowing we were there. The next morning we woke up at 6 am to head to the duck blind. Jon asked each of the boys if they wanted to get up and go duck hunting and they both JUMPED out of bed! We all put on our camo gear and headed for the blind. Jon and Trent sat in one blind and Landon and I sat in the one right next to it. We wore earplugs, although Landon wanted to pull them out so I had to cover his ears with headphones. Daddy had a great hunt, we saw lots of different types of ducks flying over us and we were only out there for 45 minutes. Maybe Landon will get to go hunting more next year!

Christmas Parties

Christmas Fun in the Kitchen

My boys are finally to an age where they both can help out in the kitchen a little. Our annual Christmas baking day in the kitchen was Monday morning. From 9 am - 2 pm we made Banana Bread (every year we make this for Daddy as its one of his favorites), Ginger cookies, sugar cookies with sprinkles and icing from scratch, and Muddy Buddies (as some may call Puppy Chow...its the chex covered with the chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar...YUM!) Daddy was off from work this week and helped us a little. Here are some of our yummy treats...

Santa at the Galleria

We had not taken our official picture with Santa Claus this year so we headed up to the Galleria because I had heard there was a little train to ride while you wait. After one hour of waiting, the boys had a chance to tell Santa Claus their final wish list. Trent says that this year he would like a Transformer, a pirate ship, and a REAL Monster Truck. We told him he is probably a little too young for a real monster truck, I could only imagine this showing up in our driveway! I'll remind him of that when he is 16... LOL! Landon would like a bike, the character Woody from Toy Story, and a train...yes another train! I was truly amazed this year when Landon RAN up to sit on Santa's lap. I was a little worried after he was not too happy last year.

We Have a Sign in our Yard!

Tonight we went Christmas light looking as it was the Christmas Light Contest in our Neighborhood. After driving around for a while, we pulled up into our driveway to see two of the judges walking up our sidewalk with a sign in their hand. We had been awarded "Best Decorated" in our section! So exciting! The boys were very excited to see them put the sign in our yard...Mommy and Daddy worked very hard as this is our first year in the new house!

All Aboard the Polar Express!

Tickets Please! I have been thinking about the trip to see the Polar Express in Palestine, TX since last Christmas! Yes my boys LOVE LOVE watching the Polar Express movie and would get so excited seeing the train come by the little boy's house on the movie and head to the North Pole to see Santa Claus. I would have to say their favorite part of the movie is the "Hot Chocolate" scene. They love to get up and sing and dance with the movie! So when I found out about the train in Palestine, TX early last December I called to get tickets and they were ALL Sold Out! What a bummer, I found out the tickets went on sale in August and penciled it in on my calendar for the next August to BUY Tickets. August rolls around and I call to get VIP seats and although half of the times were already sold out, we were able to choose between a few weekend dates. BOOKED! We could not wait to take the boys, I knew they would be so excited! We arrived early after a 3 1/2 hour drive on Friday, December 11 at around 4:45 pm to see the train arrive for the 5:10 pm departure. They absolutely loved seeing the train come and go. We picked up our tickets at Will Call, grabbed some dinner and headed back to board the 6:45 pm train. The train ride was about 1 hour and took us to the North Pole and back. Trent and Landon loved it!
