Bonjour from Paris, France!

During my parents' visit we all took a weekend trip to Paris! We took the train (ScotRail from Aberdeen to London and then took the Eurostar from London to Paris.) We took Air France back to Aberdeen from Paris. It was nice to see the countryside and the boys did wonderful on the train. We especially enjoyed taking the Chunnel (Channel Tunnel) which is a 31 mile undersea rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent in the UK with northern France beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At its lowest point it is 250 feet deep.

We stayed at a nice hotel in the Trocadero, Marriott Renaissance Paris Le Parc Trocadero. Newly renovated, it was a very nice hotel and we were right by the Trocadero so we could see amazing views of the lighted Eiffel Tower each night. We took the hop on hop off bus most places and visited the Eiffel Tower 2nd floor, Champs de Mars, The Louvre (which houses some of the world's most famous artworks including the mysterious Mona Lisa), Notre Dame Cathedral and Sainte Chapelle Church. We saw the Arc de Triomphe and walked down the stylish Champs-Elysees avenue to visit some of the shops. Louis Vuitton has its original 5 story store here.

One of the highlights of our time was eating at all the wonderful French restaurants and bakeries as well as the sunset river cruise down the Seine River. We really enjoyed watching the Eiffel Tower at night at the Trocadero. The kids wanted to sit there for hours to watch the lights "sparkle" at the top of each hour for 5 minutes. It was magical!
